Composed of distilled water with an extra oxygen molecule, hence its formula H<sub>2<\/sub>Oxygen + Oxygen = Hydrogen<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>2<\/sub> , this 3% peroxide destroys microorganisms up to a thousand times faster than chlorine. Unlike chlorine, it is also environmentally friendly, as its only byproducts are water and oxygen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, despite its close resemblance to water, 3% hydrogen peroxide stands out for its thicker consistency and powerful oxidizing properties, which make it an excellent bleaching agent. This is the most well-known use of hydrogen peroxide. A 3% food-grade solution can be applied directly to minor wounds to clean away dead tissue. Add \u00bd cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a sink half-filled with cold water. Soak your fruits and vegetables for 15\u201320 minutes.
